As we go through the third MCO since the term was first implemented in Malaysia back in March 2020, we’ve come to realise that the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted our local community in more ways than one – and unfortunately, the end is nowhere to be seen.
As businesses collapse and the economy suffers, so has a majority of the population. Some more than others.
We keep hearing about people losing their jobs, people having to take on different jobs just to make ends meet, and people who’ve had to challenge themselves by starting new businesses in these unprecedented times. In our books, these are the fortunate ones who can pick up the pieces, start afresh and move on with life.
But what happens to society’s less fortunate and those already living in poverty; the urban, hardcore poor and the rural poor in Malaysia?
